We have a bit of a late start on the volunteer recruiting blitz, so lets keep this short and to the point.
In case you haven't already heard, the 2008 Youth Club Championships will be held in Blaine on August 9th and 10th, and we need volunteers to help run the tournament. The biggest need is for scorekeepers, but there are other jobs as well. If you are interested and available to help out, please go to our volunteer sign-up page and register here:

Thanks for even taking the time to read this.

If you want to get better...
... email me at mike (dot) kinsella (at) gmail (dot) com and let's try to put together a regular summer throwing practice.
If people want, we can get a throwing group together some day after work/camp/whatever you do during the day.
Tuesdays or Fridays are good days for this, as I have practice on Wednesdays and summer league on Monday and Thursdays.
Now is the time to get better!

Host families needed for Eduardo from Brazil
Hopkins Rotary's exchange student at Hopkins High School for the 2008-09
school year is Eduardo, a 16 year old boy from Brazil. Eduardo describes
himself as "a funny guy" who is ready to learn all he can about the United
States, make lots of friends, and play EVERY sport we have here! The Rotary
has a great Fall family lined up for Eduardo, so now we are looking for a
Winter family (December-March) and Spring family (March-June). Would you
like to know more about this wonderful opportunity? Please call Hopkins
Rotarian Barb Westmoreland (952-935-5180) for a "no pressure" conversation
about host families. Barb would also like to talk with families about the
Rotary exchange year abroad program for your child. It's a life changing
opportunity!

THANK YOU!!
Thank you so much, girls, for the lovely notes you wrote - they really mean a lot to me. And you know me so well- thanks for not having me get up (again) in front of the crowd!
Moms! Holy smokes! It's a fabulous gift - I couldn't think of anything more fun than to hang out at Canal Park for a weekend and go whitewater rafting. Mike and I both thank you.
And, hey, I'm still in Hopkins. Don't be strangers; I still like to eat...

ladies - bring your shirts
ladies, i know we decided not to wear our shirts for the banquet because people want to dress up, but if you could all bring them, that would be great as its probably the last time we'll be all together and we want a picture with them on. So, dress nice, but bring them along and we'll take pictures both ways!!!
love you all and see you tomorrow night

Varsity Sunday Info
Hey Guys,
Great work today. A little recap. We got 8 points scored on us in five games. The most being 3 in one game. Everyone played great but the youngs (eli, wex, ethan) really played well and held there own out there, giving everyone something to fear in the coming years.
AS FOR TOMORROW:
The Varsity team's first game is at 9:00 AM on Sunday morning.
Due to the lengthy drive to the fields we will be meeting at the Lindbergh parking lot at 7:05.24(seconds) AM. DO NOT BE LATE. WE WILL RUN SPRINTS. This will give us time for a comfortable drive to Maple Plain, and ample time to warm up before our first game.
Expect to drive to the polo fields when you arrive at Lindbergh, so be there with a car if you are able to.
Also, with the increase is gas prices lately, please bring money to give whoever drives you.
Our schedule for the rest of the day is posted here http://upa.org/scores/tourn.cgi?div=121&id=4817
Varsity, we have one day left, lets leave as champs. Hydrate tonight and get a good nights sleep. Get ready to go tomorrow morning.
Championship mentality 'til the end

JV at State
Tournament Info (again): http://www.mnhsultimate.org/state.aspx
(check out the 'Open Schedule' link down the page too)
Map & Directions
Saturday: We will meet at the Lindberg fields at 7:00, so we can carpool with Varsity. Games go till 6pm. Can somebody host a team showing of "The Karate Kid" for Saturday night? Now that's an inspirational movie.
Sunday, I expect that we'll leave the same time, 7.
Bracket: The TD needed us to play in the competitive bracket, because we are a better team than just the chump champs (and better than our ranking #). So now we have to play some varsity teams that we've beat before, and some more serious competition, aka, a real tournament. So no whining, it's unbecoming of us warriors. Bring your best and come ready for the peak of your season.
