Hello Teams -
The boys and girls teams will be playing in "Exit 69," a tournament hosted by St. Olaf College this weekend in Northfield, MN. Games are played both Saturday 10/3 and Sunday 10/4.
Players will be meeting at 7:00 AM both Saturday and Sunday at the Lindbergh parking lot and carpooling to Northfield. Parents are welcome to attend!
[[UPDATE]] Boys, this is a varsity level tournament and we will be bringing a limited number of players. We'll choose the roster based on seniority and experience. If you are interested in attending this tournament, please post in the comment section or talk to your captains at school. We'll post a final roster later this week. Girls have been commenting in another post about their availability.
Things to bring to this tournament:
- a WHITE (not gray) shirt
- a BLACK (or dark) shirt
- athletic shorts and socks
- cleats
- a disc, if you have one
- a water bottle (or two)
- sunblock and a hat
- rain and cold gear (who knows what the weather will be like?)
Northfield is less than an hour away, right off Exit 69 (hence the tourney name!) on I-35 south of the Cities. Upperclassmen, please post in the comments if you are able to drive. Also, parents, if you plan to attend the whole day and would be willing to drive some players, please also post in the comments. Gas costs will be the individual responsibility of each car and split amongst those in the car.
The per player cost for this tournament (covering the tourney entry fee and coaching stipends/costs) is $20 per player. Please bring this to practice on Thursday, or with you on Saturday morning. Checks can be made out to "Hopkins Ultimate." Please pay before we leave on Saturday or you will not be able to attend. Questions or concerns please contact Sheri at slbrenden@comcast.net. Some food and water will be provided by the tournament, but please bring some snacks of your own or money to buy food if you so choose.
The captains' meeting is at 8:15 at the following location in Northfield:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=510+East+Jefferson+Parkway,Northfield,MN+55057&ie=UTF8&ll=44.441992,-93.164116&spn=0.003631,0.007027&t=h&z=17&iwloc=A
Coaches will meet the players at the captains' meeting in Northfield.
Expect games to start at 9 AM and play to complete around 5 or 6 PM on both days. I have not been given an exact schedule yet, but I will post that as soon as I receive it.
We are NOT staying in Northfield, but will be returning to Lindbergh on Saturday night.
Fellas, please be advised that this tournament is being considered a varsity tryout tournament by the coaches, and we will be playing against college and adult competition.
Questions? Please ask your coaches at practice or give me a call/email.

9/20 FALL LEAGUE GAME
Hey guys,
Our game this week is at 1:45 at Lake Nokomis, be there at 1:15. We're playing South Squall, this is another high school team, so it should be a good match up.
REMEMBER WEAR BLACK AND BRING YOUR WAIVER IF YOU HAVEN'T!
Cold Front Cooldown - Next Saturday 9/26
Hey Team -
Next Saturday we will have two mixed (boys and girls combined) teams competing in the "Cold Front Cooldown." This is a one day tournament, hosted by Eden Prairie Cold Front Ultimate, on Saturday 9/26. As this is a local and one-day tourney, there is no additional per player cost for this tournament. The club has covered the tournament fee.
This tournament is being held at the Twin City Polo Club in Independence, MN, just west of Maple Plain. All players are invited to attend. Players must have their Hurt registrations materials submitted to participate.
As this is the same weekend as the UPA Northwest Plains Sectional qualifier (a tournament for adult Ultimate players), most if not all of the coaches will be playing at this tournament. Fortunately, this tournament also is located at the Twin City Polo Club on Saturday and Sunday. This means that coaches Mikey K, Erin, Lou, and Tom will all be out at the fields, but for the mot part unable to coach. Captains will lead the teams, but we will need parent chaperons to supervise throughout the day. Parents, if you can attend for all or part of the day on Saturday, please post a comment on the blog also.
The following is a map of Hopkins Ultimate sites. Included on there is the location of the polo fields.
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=112976841523924219467.00045e03e59e361d1fd7a&t=h&z=11
There will most likely be fruit, bagels, and water provided by the tournament, but players are encouraged to bring refillable water bottles and snacks for themselves. Players will be responsible for all of their own food in addition to what is provided by the tourney, so please be prepared.
Expect the first game to start around 9 am, and play to go until 4:30 or 5. Players will meet at Lindbergh to carpool if necessary, most likely meeting 1 hr, 45 min to 90 minutes before the first game. Carpooling details will be posted by captains by midweek.
Players, please respond in the comment section if you are able to attend.

Any Interest in Fall League?
Hey guys,
We are playing in a co-ed Fall League this year. It will start Sunday, September 13 at Lake Nokomis, and run through November 12 (and it's always on Sunday). You aren't expected and probably won't be able to play every game. Game times run anywhere from noon to 5pm. Anyone interested should post in the comment section with their FIRST AND LAST NAME AND EMAIL ADDRESS. Varsity and upperclassmen are first priority, but please post regardless of age if you are interested (boys AND girls).
