JV practice tonight

This shouldn't be a suprise to any of the JVers, because I know everybody checks the calendar link to the right frequently, right? See you tonight at Cedar Lake Junior High.

About directions, using Google maps it seems the best way to get there from Hwy 7 is to North on Louisiana Ave, take a left on Cedar Lake Rd (going west), and then take the 5th right onto Texas Ave S (going North.) The address is either 2025 Texas Ave, or 2026 Texas Ave S. Hope that works for everyone.

JV Meeting

Just to give this issue it's own post to make sure nobody misses it, we are having an all-JV meeting on Thurdsday, Febuary the 1st at Eli Leonard's house at 7 pm. Be there or be in deep disaproval with me and the rest of your teammates. We won't be serving dinner, just snacks, so eat beforehand. It probably won't take too long (about 2 hours max), but we will discuss the HUrt organization and all our expectations for the team and each other. Come with some questions and give some thought about what you want to give and take away from your experience with this team.

JV St. Johns roster

Ok, Here's the list of players that are going:

Grant Boerhave
Jo-jo Chritianson
Brian Cook
Tim Englert
Mark Golob
Aaron Kitchner*
Eli Leonard
Danny Liten
Andreas Mobius*
Adam Rafowitz*
Max Rosenblum
Sam Segal

Those with a * by your name will recieve a set of jerseys for the day from Kelly and will return them to her at the end of the tournament (we have you down for the second jersey order, so you will get your permanant jersey eventually.)

If it turns out that you can't go or have a question, talk to coach Russ or post a question in the comments that coach Kelly will answer.

Again, we will meet at Lindberg HS to hash out rides at 11:15 this Saturday morning and will leave at 11:30.

I am re-posting coach Kelly's advice about what to bring to the tournament in the comments, PLEASE READ and TAKE HEED, especially if you haven't been to a tournament yet.

Have a great time, and more than anything else, remember to rally as a TEAM.

JV travel to St. Johns

I want to post a correction to our travel times this Saturday. For travel to St. Johns, we will be meeting at Lindberg High School at 11:15 am and leaving at 11:30. Getting back, we may well have to play until midnight, so we might not get back home till between 1 or 2 in the am. If there were another parent or two who would be willing to make the drive and spend the day, that would be excelent. See the comments section about how to contact me regarding this.

Bettering Yourself

If you want to become a better human specimen and consequently a better ultimate player, read and employ the habits detailed in Luke's post about diet and exercise.

JV Info

1. The JV team will be going to a one-day tournament at St. Johns on
Saturday the 27th of January (check the calendar link to the right).
Please post in the comments by Tuesday the 23rd if you want to and
can go, unless you have told coach Russ personally. We would
apreciate a parent or two to come along (and drive). We will be
leaving around 10 am and getting back around 11pm. I will post
specifics on travel when we know who is going and driving. I will be
in Boston for this weekend, but Kelly or another coach will carry the
torch for me.

2) The JV team has a meeting set for Thursday, February 1st at Eli
Leonard's house at 7:00. We will have some snacks, but we won't be
serving dinner, so please eat beforehand.

3) Jerseys. "Many people are eager to receive their jerseys. For
those of you whose jerseys I am holding, you will have to get them
either at Wednesday practice or at the upcoming team meeting, at the
team meeting. There are also those of you who did not get in on the
first order. We are getting a second order ready, so far I have
requests from:
Daniel Raskin
Sam Bumstead
Aaron Kitchner
Andreas Moebius
Adam Rafowitz

Please respond in the comments if you need to be in the next jersey
order. Indicate your name, size and some number preferences (if you
care.)

ps. Everyone who plays at St. Johns will have a Hurt Jersey to wear,
though it may not be their permanent property.

JV Practices

The Calendar is close, but not always right on. So for clarification:

JV Practice will be EVERY WEDNESDAY FROM 6:15-8:00 at Minnetonka Middle School.

This practice followed by either a ladies practice (such as this week is ) or a Varsity boys practice (To Be Determined) from 8:10 - 10:00.

Directions: Take Hwy 7 WEST to Hazeltine Blvd (Hwy 41) south 2 blocks to school on the left.

the school address is 6421 Hazeltine Boulevard

Thanks, j.

NEW JERSEYS

A reccomendation from our printers: To prolong the life of your jerseys, the first time you wash your jerseys, wash them inside out.

This will just keep the screenprinting on the inside and away from other clothing items that may grab or tear at the numbers.

(note: they are good jerseys with great screenprinting, but this is just a way to ensure the quality)

Enjoy!

Notes on MLK Tournament

We have hotel reservations at: Comfort Suites, Duluth. the phone number there is 218.727.1378. The address is 408 Canal Park Drive. This hotel is near Grandma's restaurant and many other fine eateries. So, players tell your parents where you will be Sunday night January 14th.

Girls!!!!!!

Are you ready? It's time now to really kick it in gear so that you can sprint for miles when we get outside! We're going to throw, get conditioned, have contests, win some prizes, and have fun. Winter practice season is now in session!!
Of course that means you have to come to practice! We have a crazy schedule with practices at different place every week - so it is super important that you look at the schedule, get this stuff on your calendars and make sure you have a ride. As always, bring tennis shoes, water, discs, and whatever else you use - don't screw over your teammates! And the time shown that practice starts is the time coaches start coaching; that means you need to plan ahead to get there early to do what you need to do to get ready for practice. Don't be shocked at the penalties you'll pay for being late!
We have two tournaments coming up in the next couple of months - playing time will definitely depend on how much you attend and put out at practice. Show the coaches and captains that you deserve lots of PT!!
See you Wednesday!

  • We can have 24 people with 12 people per session.

  • Our workout time is 8-9pm.

  • The sessions are organized the way they are so that if you miss Monday you can go to Tuesday, or if you miss Wednesday you can go to Thursday, etc, it is flexible which days you go to.

  • It will cost $185 per person if 24 people sign up

We will start January 8th and the program will last for 25 sessions (until the first week of April.)

If you can do this, talk to your parents, then email me. Do this ASAP. I will let everyone know the final amount as soon as I can. Let me know which days you want to attend.
