Hello all current and future Hurtems!
There will be no official practices this week, the week of Aug 31. We will start up official practices starting on Tuesday 9/8 after Labor Day. For now, enjoy your first week of school and look out for announcements on captains' practices.
We hope to have a fall schedule to present by the registration meeting on 9/14.
Thanks,

Captains Practice
We hope everyone had a relaxing summer but now it's time to get to work. We're starting the 2009-2010 season with the first captains practice Saturday August 15th from 12 pm-2pm at Lions Park in Golden Valley. We will be throwing around and scrimmaging and everyone who plans on playing Jv, Girls or Boys varsity should show up but it is fine if you can't make it.
We know that not everyone has checked the blog the past couple of months so after reading this post, spread the word to anyone you know who plays or is interested in playing. Can't wait to play some ultimate Saturday, see you there.
Sincerely,
Your Captains: Emma Peaslee, Jenna Dailey, Haley Arenson, Josh Klane, Eli Leonard

Hurt Recruitment Video and Open House - Help Spread the Word!
Come Be In The HUrt Recruitment Video!
When: Monday August 10th from 4-6pm (players can come and go anytime during that 2 hours)Where: Burnes Park
What: To film a video that will be shown at junior high open houses to encourage new players to join our team. You would be either playing pickup (as a background) or being interviewed about HUrt and Ultimate in general.
If you can come please reply in the comments section and wear HUrt jerseys to the event. Snacks will be provided.
Also, I would love to have 5 other kid volunteers, beside myself, and 1 other adult to stand at tables for the junior high open houses on August 26th. If anyone is interested leave a comment to that effect in the comments section.
There would be two groups of 3, one at West and one at North with a parent at each. The timing for West is 5:30-8:30, and North is from 4-7. These are three solid hours of volunteering that you can mark down for NHS or any other thing you do like that! Thank you so much for the help!

YCC Volunteers Necessary!
Here's a message from Jeff Hagen of the MNHSUL about YCC. Parents, if you are going to be watching your son/daughter at YCC (or even if you're not), please consider volunteering. Kids, if you're not playing YCC, you can help out too!

Dear local Ultimate enthusiast-
Will you donate a few hours of your time for youth Ultimate?
The 2009 UPA Youth Club Championships are being held at the National Sports Center in Blaine on August 8th and 9th, and we need volunteers.
Volunteers are the backbone of successful UPA championship events, and you can be a part of the future of Ultimate at the Youth Club Championships. Whether you want to dive in and immerse yourself in the event for days, or just help out a little in between watching some great action, we can find something perfect for you. From scorekeeping to setting up fields, from helping keep the players hydrated to helping keep the site clean, there are lots of opportunities to contribute.
Please go to http://www.mnhsultimate.org/volunteer.aspx to indicate your willingness to help. Volunteer Coordinator Jeff Hagen is available to answer your questions. 651-341-9448 or wblultimate@yahoo.com.

Potential Car Wash
We have a slot at Cub Foods on 101 from 10-4 on August 8th for a car wash fundraiser.
However, a lot of our players have the Youth Club Championship (YCC) tournament that weekend and won't be able to make it. We want to know if there are enough players not playing in that tournament that would be able to help out that day.
Comment under this if you are available to help

Congrats to all teams on a successful season! The girls' placed 5th at State, the Boys' JV won a few games this weekend , and the Boys' Varsity completed an undefeated high school season by winning the MN State Championship!
Thanks again to all parents, coaches, and fans for supporting our teams this weekend at State and all throughout the year. Have a great summer!
Players, if you are not going away to camp, I would highly recommend signing up for the MN Youth Summer League. The cost is $15, and the first 100 players to sign up get a disc included with their registration at no extra cost!
