Madison details

Please be at the back of the Adath parking lot no later than 3:15, for a 3:30(or earlier if every one is on time!) departure.

Due to a couple of questions regarding attendees, the carpool list will not be posted because I can't finish it until I get a FINAL count of players that doesn't change. When you arrive at the Adath parking lot you will find out which vehicle you are in. Please arrive on time and check in with me for your assignment so that we can leave quickly and try to avoid too much rush hour traffic. Each car will be divided by team, so that parent drivers only have one host home they have to drop off and pick up from.

Parents who are traveling with us this weekend besides myself are; Marni Bumsted, Barb Schoonover, David Seffren, Andrea Shapiro, Tom Perry, Dan Mosow, Ken Raskin, Jim Shear, Debbi Pavelka, and Chandler Taylor. Thank you all in advance for joining us this weekend; I hope you all have as much fun watching the kids play and cheering them on as I always do! We have some very talented kids, and what they can do as a team is pretty amazing! Even off the field; I've had the privilege of being told by a number of hotel clerks and managers that we're welcome back any time because we're one of the most polite and best behaved teams they've had in their hotel. I shared with the boys that I was as proud of that as their accomplishments on the field, and I'm sharing it with you now, because I'm sure you all feel the same way. Along with teaching Ultimate, the coaches do a wonderful job of instilling a feeling of being a "team family" and looking out for each other; being responsible for each other, and it shows. We are very fortunate to have such dedicated and talented coaches; 6 of them will be with us in Madison this weekend!

The Varsity team will be hosted by Darcy McCann and family
The girls team will be hosted by coach Tallis Boyd's family
and the JV team will be hosted by team member, Mosey Krelitz's mom, Bridget Grams

They are all just a short drive away from the fields where the tournament will take place~

Mudbath - what to bring

Hurtems, Hertets and Hurt parents,

There will be a finalized post of carpools coming soon, promise.

In the next 18 hours, please HYDRATE, REST and FUEL your body (yes, even if you're a parent spectating) - stay away from carbonated beverages, eat protein and pasta, and dream of ultimate in your restful sleep.

A special spectator note: layers are your best friend, and I highly recommend you bring a reusable water bottle and a couple granola bars. Also: Umbrella, Rain Coat, Hiking boots (waterproof) or rain boots, gloves and a winter hat.

Packing list for the weekend:
sleeping bag/pillow (players are sleeping on the floor)
towel, shower kit, swim suit (we shower at Memorial HS)
your kit (jerseys, shorts, cleats, reusable water bottle etc.)
rain gear: rain coat, trash bag, winter hat, gloves/handwarmers
socks
more socks
additional socks
LAYERS - no cotton!
2x LAYERS (you will get wet/muddy; you will need a spare)
outerwear: sweats, a warm jacket.
snacks - high protein items and carbs that are easy to digest
(beef jerky, clif shot blox, trail mix, gatorade powder, gu, granola bars etc.)

This tournament is called MUDBATH for a reason. Planning makes you toasty warm.
Your car time is also good for homework, team bonding and review of strategy.

Remember that your gear has to fit in a full car. Pack smart.

Erin

JV vs. EP (Cancelled)

JV Players,

As of 9AM today, the rain is supposed to continue all day with temperatures in the low 40's. However, our game will be played unless we receive notification that the fields are not in order.

This is just a reminder of your responsibility to dress toasty warm and to check the blog periodically throughout the day for any last minute schedule changes.

Update (12pm): The game has been postponed due to poor field conditions in Eden Prairie. Instead, (conditions permitting) we will have practice at Lindbergh from 6:15 to 8:15. We will work with the Varsity to ensure the fields at Lindbergh are OK.

The makeup vs. EP is tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday, 5/3 at Lindbergh.

Madison

I know everyone is excited for all of the details about our trip to Madison this weekend for the Madison Mudbath Tournament. We are in the process of finalizing carpool and housing assignments. Plan on leaving between 3:15 and 3:30; we will post a final time with all the other final details in the next day or two.

There will be NO FEE for this tournament! The fundraising money that you all have worked to earn is going to pay for everybody. This way all three teams have an opportunity to benefit from the efforts. Your host family will provide breakfast, and there is a dinner Saturday night hosted by the tournament. Plan on bringing money for other meals and snacks, and anything you might want to buy at the tournament.

CUB FOODS

Thank you to everyone who has already worked or signed up to work at the Cub Foods wagon for our fundraiser. We can still use a few people this week, and the next few weeks have spots available as well. Please check your calendar and sign up for an open shift. Remember, every family must work at least one(but we'd appreciate more!)and if you don't sign up for a shift, one will be assigned to you. The calendar can be found here .

JV Game vs. EP rescheduled (finally!)

The JV game vs. Eden Prairie B has been confirmed for tomorrow (Tues, 4/26) at 6:00pm at Round Lake Park in Eden Prairie.

- The carpool will depart from Lindbergh at 5:00pm.
- Parents and players: please post in the comments if you (1) need a ride, or (2) can drive and have room for X additional players in your vehicle.
- If you are not participating in the carpool, please arrive at Round Lake Park and be ready by 5:30 for warmups.
- According to MNHSUL: "Please park on the South side of Eden Prairie High School and use paths into park."

The Taylors will be monitoring the comments to ensure rides and drivers are properly matched. We will follow a similar procedure for Thursday's away game at Spring Lake Park.

Madison details

We will be posting more details very soon for our trip to Madison, but plan on leaving @3:00-3:30.

Parent drivers; we have reservations at the AmericInn, Madison West. This hotel is located just a few minutes from the field. I will send an email out to all of you in the next day with details.

Erin's note 4/24: Details for Mudbath are Club-wide, that includes Boys Varsity, Boys JV and Girls. We are still settling some final details, please rest assured that we will post as soon as we can.

JV Game at Orono

A few notes for those of you attending the JV game at Orono. Tallis and Shira will meet you at the game.

1 - To my knowledge, there is no pre-arranged carpool. However, interested players and parents can meet at the Lindbergh parking lot for a 5 pm departure. The trip to Orono is approximately 20 minutes without traffic. Please leave by 5pm to ensure enough time for travel and warm-up.

2 - Here is a link to the field where we played last year. It's the first parking lot north of Wayzata Blvd on Crystal Bay Rd. Some drivers had difficulty finding the fields last year, as the Orono school campus is rather large. I have reached out to the Orono contacts to make sure the location has not changed.

3 - Following the game, there will be a dinner for players and parents at a yet-to-be-determined restaurant.

Play well, have fun, represent HURT.

Varsity team Cub Foods shifts

I know you guys all talked about the two afternoon shifts at Cub tomorrow, but please post which shift you will be there...3:00-4:30 or 4:30-6:00 so we know who to expect for each time frame. Please make sure it's somewhat balanced between the two shifts.

They are anticipating that the store will be very busy with people shopping for Easter, so you should have lots of customers...the tips should be good!

Pictures posted

I've posted pictures from last weekend's Varsity tournament on a shutterfly website I started last year. I'll try to get other pictures I've taken recently, up there soon! To access the site, click http://hopkinshurt.shutterfly.com/. You can download pictures or order them from Shutterfly if you're interested.

Today's Practices are ON!

We'll see you out there - remember to tell your captains/coaches if you can't make it.

JV Competition Update (Response Needed)

Hey JV - here's what's new on the competition front:

1 - League game vs. Eden Prairie B has been rescheduled for Tuesday, 4/26. 6pm as usual. Location is TBA, but be prepared for a road game. The game will be at Eden Prairie unless it is hosting a girls' league game that day.

2 - We have a decision to make regarding a tournament opportunity. Bids are due soon for the Granite City Classic, held in St. Cloud on May 14/15. We have attended this tournament regularly in the past, and we would like to do so again this year. However, unlike prior years, this tournament will fall on a 3rd consecutive tournament weekend (following Mudbath and the Hustle). The Varsity will be at Westerns this weekend.

This is a well-run tournament, is fairly close to home, and features great JV-level competition for us. Before we submit our bid, the coaches want to solicit feedback from players and parents. If there are no objections or concerns, we will submit our bid by the end of the week. Please post your thoughts in the comments, or contact a coach directly if you would like to discuss.
