Important Nationals Tournament Information

Dear Nationals team players,
Team players will meet on the airport (Lindbergh this time) by 1PM on Friday.  Please tell your parents to plan for your ride to the airport and
from the airport.  We are flying NWA # 807 leaving at 2:30 pm and arriving in Seattle at 4:04 pm.  We return on NWA flight # 154 leaving
Seattle at 12:50 AM (Monday morning) and arriving in MSP at 5:54 AM Monday.  We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express in
Burlington, Washington about 90 minutes north of Seattle on I-5.  Plan for cool rainy days and/or warn and dry days.  Final cost is $460.00.  Please

The Henry Sibley coach has indicated to us that the field at Friendly Hills is wet and will not be ready for our game on Thursday. The new field information is as follows:

CAR WASH!

Hi gang:

The Ultimate fundraising car wash (Part 1) is Saturday May 5, 10 AM to 3 PM, Bauer’s Texaco, NE corner Excelsior and Baker Road. They are all ready for us. Here is what we need to do/bring:

* LOTS and LOTS of wash rags and DRYING TOWELS - LOTS

* big buckets

* large sponges

* car wash soap

* a hose and a few nozzles

* clothes line

* brushes to wash the tires of cars

* signs and markers to advertise the car wash in the street

* CALL YOUR FRIENDS and FAMILY TO COME TO WASH

Captains, please organize and promote working the car wash with your teams, get them there in shifts. It will be your job to drive this with the players. After all, this is benefiting them!

JV Thursday away game: Travel Time Change!

The JV will be playing St. Paul Open this Thursday.

TUESDAY'S SCHEDULE

Tuesday's league game has to be postponed (due to scheduling problems on Armstrong's end). We're trying to get it rescheduled for Thursday during our regularly-scheduled practice. So be prepared for a practice on Tuesday instead. Be there by 5p; practice goes until 7:30p.

JV Game during practice time on Monday

So we have a game occupying our regularly scheduled practice time on Monday the 16th. Even if you're not listed on the Spring League roster (below) yet, you are welcome to drill with and cheer on your teammates in Monday's game. We'll start drilling at 5:30 so we can begin the game at full power at 6. I'm fired up, I hope you are.

Anybody not on this list needs to be registered with Hurt and the UPA, and pay a $30 fee to Hopkins Ultimate before you can play in a spring league game. So if you're not on the list, you can't play in Monday's game (which is last week's rescheduled game), but if you get your stuff in, you might well play in Thurday's game.

JV Chalk-talk at 6 pm room 206

We've got room 206 in the Lindberg Center (at Hopkins HighSchool) from 6:00 to 7:30 tonight. Sorry for the time change, but that's what we can get. Somebody else is using it beforehand, so if you get there before 6, just hang loose for a bit. Please come so we can get jerseys, spring league and rostering straigtened out. Varsity Practice

We will beat the weather factor (it's an Intangible), and have throwing practice at Burnes Park at 5:30.

Please do not wear your cleats. Keep them dry for the weekend.

Bring a disc, WARM DRY SOCKS and an impeccable attitude.

Practice Cancelled for Girls!!

Don't worry - we have a bye right after our first game on Saturday, so there will be plenty of time to go over UzbeckiZone. That's the plan anyway.
And don't forget about the 3oz limit on liquids that must be in a clear plastic bag to bring on the airplane - otherwise pack all that in your checked baggage.

Bring Rain Gear and plenty of socks. Looks like we will see some rain on Saturday. Be sure you are prepared for all kinds of weather and have plenty of dry gear.

TRADING TABLE

We will have a Trading Table this year during the Saturday dinner. If you have stuff to sell or trade, please bring it along.

EP GAME CANCELED

We've canceled the ep game to be rescheduled at another time.

JV chalk-talk insted of Thursday game

It seems to be a good week for the chalk-talk, which is good for us because we need it.

Our game tomorrow against White Bear Lake B has been rescheduled for Monday at 6 pm (so everybody ready to drill at 5:30 still). In lieu of that we will have a chalk-talk at Lindberg HS starting at 5:30.

We will talk logistics, rosters, strategy, tactics, communications and how to be a better team. This stuff is important, so call or e-mail me if you can't make it (see comments for contact info). I don't know yet what room we will have, but I will post it early tomorrow morning. Eat something before, bring a pen and notebook and focus your mind on building the team. This is a good time to bring questions and suggestions on how to make the JV more awesome.

JV Practice Canceled

Practice tonight is canceled, because we would destroy the fields. Our game tomorrow looks chancy too, I am working to reschedule for early next week (Monday I hope). Instead of our game tomorrow, we will probably have a chalk talk, either at the HS or somebody's house. Watch for updates.

Paideia players!!!!

For those of you who did not go last year - please remember that we are staying in someone's house this weekend. This means we all have to bring our own pillow, sleeping bag, towel, etc., not to mention all our Ultimate gear and tournament food! Please ask questions on the comments section here or ask your coach at practice this week.

JV practices and Stuff

The JV team will be practicing on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 on the Lindberg HS fields. That starts this week, late notice I know, but make it if you can because we've got a season ahead! Practice at 5:30 means that you are there with your cleats on, and warmed up, ready to MOVE! So get there at least 15 minutes early, or earlier if you tend to dither.

We have our first MN HS League game this week, and right now we only have a roster of 10. So when you come to practice, bring a $30 check to Hopkins Ultimate and I'll put you on the League roster. Our first game may be home or away, the schedule will be posted on Sunday at www.mnhsultimate.org Check it out. One more thing: I have to have your UPA # to sign you up.

Penultimate posting for Paideia

Dear Players,
We are a few days away from take off to Atlanta and the Paideia tournament. Our plane leaves from the Humphrey Terminal at 4:50. Please meet in the passenger ticketing area by 3:30 pm. We have all the tickets and will need to be certain we have all players, money and forms before we can leave for Atlanta.
AirTran flight #852 leaving for Atlanta at 4:50 arriving at 8:15 pm. The return flight will be AirTran flight #858 arriving at Humphrey Terminal at 12:38 AM. (That is after midnight on Sunday).
Please look here for more details re: where the homes will be and what we need to bring for the sleeping accommodations.
Boys will be at the O'Neal's home, same family different location. We will know more about the girls home tomorrow. Host parents are asking that all players bring bedding (eg. sleeping bag and pillow), towel, and wash cloths. The forcast is for rain on Saturday and sun on Sunday. Bring sunscreen and a rain suit and extra shirts and shorts. Bring cash for lunches on saturday and sunday. evening meal will be a freebee. Tell your parents that there will be medical supervision on the field (EMT), tents for the rain.
