Varsity travel

Varsity players, we are trying to put together out spring travel plans and need to get an idea of who can make a commitment to our out of town tournaments. Obviously, Paideia and Westerns are the most expensive trips and also the ones we need to plan the farthest in advance. We need to make non refundable deposits on airplane tickets, so we will not decide to travel unless we have firm commitments and DEPOSITS from anyone who plans to attend. The final cost has not been determined but airfare is very high to Portland and not that cheap to Atlanta either. Even with a substantial amount of our fundraising money being used to defray costs, expect the final amounts to be in the range of~$375.00-425.00 for Paideia and $500.00-$600.00 for Westerns. There has been some talk about a few other fundraising ideas specific to Varsity that could help lower the cost as well, but you guys would have to start working on that.

Please post as soon as possible if you are planning on traveling to either or both of these tournaments.

We need to make a decision about attending Paideia by next week in order to make our travel plans. I will need a $100.00 deposit by February 10th from each player who plans to attend if we have enough players available to make it possible for us to go.

Boys Varsity Paideia Meet time - 11:30 AM, FRIDAY 4/17 at HUMPHREY Terminal

Please meet in the Humphrey Terminal of MSP at 11:30 AM on Friday. From there John Dailey will have our boarding passes and we'll go through security together and to our gates.

Stuff to bring in your carryon: cleats, jerseys, socks to play in, braces, etc., anything else you may need for the game . This is so that in the unfortunate occurrance of lost luggage, you will still have the bare minimum of stuff needed to play.

Each player has been allotted ONE checked bag included in the total cost of the tourney. Please, if you are planning on checking more than one bag, have $15 per bag ready to pay at the airport check-in counter. We are only gone for a weekend, so there shouldn't be too much stuff you need to bring.

As always, please review the TSA's 3-1-1 policy for carry-on liquids. This is still the case. Where your coaches and parents may be forgiving, "forgetting" about TSA policy means your stuff gets left behind.

Here's a link to review the policy: http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm

Thanks,
Mikey K

Update on Paideia Tournament

Men and Women players,

Congratulations on earning bids to Paideia. We will a keep you all up to date on transportation planning and information at this website. Thanks to Ann Shaw for her work on getting the plane to take us to WARM Atlanta. Now for the details.

Coaches will publish a full list of players eligible to play. Both teams will fly together from MPLS to Atlanta leaving here at 4:50 PM on Friday and returning late Sunday night (12:38 am). The flight is with AirTran and is non-stop to Atlanta. We will rent vans at the airport and players and coaches will billet Friday and Saturday night with Paideia families. Parents will rent at a hotel near by. The full cost including flight, ground transport, tournament fees will be approximately $375.00. The final cost is hard to estimate as yet, but we will keep you all up to date on the final bill.

Players, your job is to get a full and unequivocal 'Yes' from your parents as soon as possible, we'll have less than 2 weeks to insert your names into the group reservation. Ann has reserved 36 spots -- we can decrease that number, but if we increase it the extra spots are not guaranteed for the same price.

Players ask your parents if they would like to come and see two of the best teams in the country take on the East coast players. Parents' costs will be the plane fare $240.00, plus food, ground transportation and hotel.
Have interested parents call Ann Shaw or Mike Schock for details.

For those MapQuest fans, Paideia School is just outside Atlanta, about 15 miles from the airport.
