Directions:


Take 94W until you get to exit 156 (it will say Collegeville/St. John's University).
Turn left at the top of the ramp.
Turn left again at the first stop sign you hit (it is a 4 way if you hit the church you've gone too far)
Turn an immediate right into the parking lot and we will be playing in the big field house in front of you.

Sorry, I forgot this in the last post, you must also bring $5 with for the tournament to cover gas costs.

Hopkins Ultimate Swing Dancing!! Everybody's Invited!

So the girls team decided we are going swing dancing and we would love for the boys to join us!

Here are the details:

When: Saturday February 7th,
Lesson at 7:30 PM, Dance at 8:30PM
Where: Tapestry Folk Dance Center
3748 Minnehaha Ave S.
Minneapolis, MN 55406
What: Swing dance lesson and social dancing with a live band called the Swing Beat Big Band
Who: Everybody! All ages are welcome, no dance experience necessary (that's what the lesson is for) and you don't need a date cause there will be a ton of people there to dance with
Why: Because dancing is awesome and a ton of fun!
Cost: $8 for students (you must show a student ID)/ $10 for adults

JV Tournament at St John's in Jeopardy...

... if we don't find people to drive our boys home on Saturday night. Right now, NO ONE has volunteered to bring kids home from St. Cloud.

No rides home = no one on JV goes = Varsity takes over the tourney because they can drive up there themselves.

I know this sounds harsh, but this is the reality of the situation. Please consider helping your sons enjoy a great day of ultimate!

JV Workouts

Tomorrow, Thursday the 22nd, JV will be starting a new workout schedule. We will be meeting Monday and Thursday at Lindbergh from 3 p.m to around 4 p.m.

We are hoping for a better turn out in the future. Sorry for the late notice.

St. John's H.S. Indoor Tournament - JV

Hello all JV players, 

As many of you know we will be attending the St. John's Indoor Tournament Sat. Jan 31st. It is located in Collegeville, MN. It is about an hour and a half away. More specific details on travel are to come later however here is the general information that we do have.

We are guarenteed 4 games, and the tournament begins at 1:30PM and can go as late as 11:30PM, but will finish no earlier than 8:00PM. 

Now we must determine a roster of who is coming to the tournament.  All JV players are welcome. So if you plan on attending reply to this thread and put your name on the list.

Hello Everyone,

First off thank you to John Dailey, Sheri, Mikey and Lou for sending us up to, and being there in Duluth.

Also, another huge thank you to Gail Grewe and Tom & Sheva Sanders for accompanying us to Duluth, driving, and being there for a great weekend. We really appreciate all the support and help we get from the parents in this organization.

Boys finished 5-1 and got third place this weekend at a College tournament. An impressive tournament but we are still out there Championship hunting and looking for more.

Varsity in Duluth 4-0 so far

The boys are doing well at the Duluth tournament. They won three games yesterday and one today. They are currently in the semifinals against the top seed. They are scheduled to play one more game regardless of the outcome so expected departure time is around 5 p.m. They are playing all college teams so they are having a great showing! Way to go, HURT!

Girl's Team

Girls -

We have all team practices every Sunday from 7 to 9 unless it says otherwise on the blog. If you cannot make it, let the coaches know or Emma or me.

Youth Ultimate has dubbed the Hopkins Varsity team as the 9th best high school team in the nation for 2009. I think we all know we are better then that. Keep that in mind when you get tired this weekend, or at practice in the future, we have something to prove.

DULUTH UPDATE *IMPORTANT*

TIME CHANGE

We are scheduled for the later pool which does not start playing until later in the afternoon/evening.

Therefore, we will be leaving Lindbergh at 11:30. Be there at 11:15

Cars and Rooms will be assigned and will be communicated there.

We are going head up to Duluth. Arrive there at around 2:00, 2:30
Check into the hotel
Chill for about an hour
Head over to the field house and then we have our games

Make sure you get plenty of sleep.


What you Need:

Black Jersey/Shirt
White Jersey/Shirt
Indoor Shoes
Shorts
Lots of Socks
Any braces that you wear
Hat?
Compression shorts?
You will want a sweatshirt and sweatpants to travel/lounge in
Water/Water bottle
Snacks - anything that will increase your energy level efficiently.

Varsity Men Duluth Tournament - Jan 18 & 19

Greetings,
Our best wishes go with HUrt Black as they sweep up Duluth this Sunday and Monday!!! Kick some serious northern butt!!! From the 9 athletes who are going to the tournament, we will need to have you bring cash/checks (made out to "Hopkins Ultimate") for $80.00. That covers your hotel room, tournament entry fee, coaches' per diem, and gas contribution for travel. You will still need to bring money for meals and personal expenses. Please bring your money to the departure point on Sunday Morning at 8:00 a.m. (Lingbergh Center).

We are planning on 4 drivers at this point, including the coaches in 1 car and 3 vehicles with athletes. Gas money ($40) will be given to each driver on Sunday morning.

PARENTS WHO WISH TO ATTEND:
We are again staying at the Comfort Suites Canal Park on Sunday night, January 18, since everyone last year liked this hotel so much. We have 2 athlete rooms and 1 coaches' room reserved. Each of these city-view rooms has 2 queen beds and a pull-out couch (can sleep up to 6). The hotel offers free deluxe continental breakfast, and has an indoor heated pool and hot tub to help rejuvenate your body and spirit on Sunday evening. I reserved 4 rooms. Any parents traveling to Duluth for the tournament who are interested in staying with the team, can call the hotel at 218-727-1378 and mention “Hopkins Ultimate 10% off.” The room price is $89/night ($102.28 including taxes).

SUMMARY:

• Departure to Duluth: 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18 from Lindbergh Center parking lot.
• Trip cost: $80.00 per athlete: cash or check payable to "Hopkins Ultimate." Must be paid at departure.
• Hotel: Comfort Suites Canal Park -218-727-1378

Fellas -

Boys' JV will have practice next Tuesday, 1/20, at Williston from 5:15-7 PM. This is the normal varsity time. Please attend and work on getting better.

Boys' JV also has practice on SUNDAY 1/18 at North Jr. High from 7-9 PM per usual.

This weekend is Duluth.

We are working on getting a roster set.

But, we are also looking for parents to go.

Though you may not know if you are on the roster yet, ask your parents if they want to spend a nice weekend in Duluth watching ultimate.

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a nice holiday and relaxing time off of school. It's time to get back to work!

The practice schedule is updated on the right; here are some details.

All team practice is Sunday, January 4th, from 7 - 9 PM at HOPKINS NORTH JR HIGH Fieldhouse. Going forward this winter, our Sunday practices are at NORTH now, no more West.

We also have Tuesday, Jan 6th at Williston for Girls and Varsity Boys.

Only 2 weeks until our first tourney!
