Those with a * by your name will recieve a set of jerseys for the day from Kelly and will return them to her at the end of the tournament (we have you down for the second jersey order, so you will get your permanant jersey eventually.)

If it turns out that you can't go or have a question, talk to coach Russ or post a question in the comments that coach Kelly will answer.

Again, we will meet at Lindberg HS to hash out rides at 11:15 this Saturday morning and will leave at 11:30.

I am re-posting coach Kelly's advice about what to bring to the tournament in the comments, PLEASE READ and TAKE HEED, especially if you haven't been to a tournament yet.

Have a great time, and more than anything else, remember to rally as a TEAM.

we seem to have a good schedule, guys! that should work well for us.
this is just a friendly reminder to the players (especially if this is their first tournament) to check the website and make sure they have everything they need in their ultimate bag. especially the right footwear, extra socks, water and FOOD. yes, the concession stand will be open, but i don't think it has been food that would be good for you to eat during a tournament. this place usually has the makings for PBJs, but i don't remember much else. so go buy some protein bars, some gatorade (to mix with your water), fruit, and whatever else gets you going. (trust me, hot dogs aren't going to cut it, boys.) if you have any questions, Russ and i will both be at practice on wednesday, you can ask us then or give us a call.

for the parents:
the kids have been told again and again about Ultimate's "spirit of the game" which i think sets the sport above and beyond other sports.
"Spirit of the Game. Ultimate relies upon a spirit of sportsmanship which places the responsibility for fair play on the player. Highly competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of mutual respect between players, adherence to the agreed upon rules of the game, or the basic joy of play. Protection of these vital elements serves to eliminate adverse conduct from the Ultimate field. Such actions as taunting of opposing players, dangerous aggression, belligerent intimidation, intentional fouling, or other 'win at all costs' behavior are contrary to the Spirit of the Game and must be avoided by all players."

the greatness of it is that it is not only for the players and coaches, but for everyone on the sidelines as well, and that is you! Ultimate is a game that is self-officiated by the players on the field. that means that there is no referee and even the coach can't make a call! this is a great opportunity for kids to learn the rules and to implement conflict resolution. It's also a great opportunity for parents to provide, cheer, and yell nothing but positive reinforcement for our team. i hope to meet a lot of you there!

see you saturday,
Kelley
