Varsity Roster 2014-2015

The roster is here!
Thank you to everyone who tried out for Varsity this year. The skill level that the Hopkins program holds is crazy high and the future is extremely bright. The Varsity Team is VERY fluid. Demotions and promotions are very real and very possible. This means that if you made the team, we expect you to continue to work hard from now until the end of the season, come to workouts and practices (which both are MANDATORY), and be ready to push yourself harder than ever before. If you didn’t make the team, keep working hard, come to workouts and practices, and prove that you can be a valuable member of the team or the team for years to come. Stay posted to the blog to hear when workouts begin and other logistical matters.

Now, your 2014-2015 Hopkins Varsity Roster.

Captain Sam “Hurricane” Kaminsky
Isaac “Just Couldn’t Wait” Teplinsky
Matt “Hannah Montana” Molnar
Alex “AC/DC” Campbell
Bradley “No Rebounds” Kaplan

Trey “Elsa” Taylor
Jacob “Fear The Club” Ungerman
Ben “The Question” Pavelka
Spence “The Answer” Boney
Max “The Kid” Stillman
Jacob Elias
Jacob “Boranasaurus Rex” Bornstein
Mosey “Mí Amor” Krelitz
Fern “Andrew” Fern
Zach “Bruce Banner” Shear
Max “Wit Sum Koolaid” Sandler
Jonny “Jonny Frisbee” Lovagnini
Max “We’re Gonna Need Extra Duct Tape” Seffren

Congratulations to all who made it. Remember, this is an OFFER to be on the Varsity team, if you accepted to be on varsity, please send me an email or text with your name and phone number so you can be added to the GroupMe. I’m looking forward to making this a season to remember with all of you. Now, let’s get to work.

We've arrived!

Teams Black and Silver, coaches, and parent chaperones are safely settled into the hotel.  It was an easy ride with zero complications :-).  We arrived around 8:45pm.  A couple of movies were shown on the bus including 'The Princess Bride'.  Erin informed me that it's the 25th anniversary of the movie!  At this point players  should have lights out, resting up for the start of the tournamenttomorrow  morning.

•Our first stop is Fargo for a quick dinner. Approximately 4 hours from the cities.
•The weather keeps changing so be Toasty Warm and prepared.

Hold Back the Snow information

Please read this entire post if you are traveling to Winnipeg

Hello!
Please accept my apologies for the late blog post regarding HBTS. I ran into many speed bumps on the road while frantically trying to get this information up in a timely manner....which I unfortunately did not get done. However....

We are excited to be able to send our tradition of 2 teams to play in the HBTS tournament in Winnipeg, Canada.  Here are the details:

  • We are meeting in the Adath back parking lot on Friday October 17, at 11:00am.   Cars may be left there for the weekend.  The bus leaves at 11:30am sharp.
  • The bus is quite comfortable and has a restroom, DVD player, free Wi-Fi and seats that are spacious and partially recline.
  • Passports will be collected before getting on the bus.  Please have yours out and ready when you arrive at Adath?
  • We will stop for dinner in Fargo which is 4 hrs. away.  Please eat a late breakfast/early lunch before we leave.
  • Estimated arrival time at the hotel is approx 7:30-8:00pm.  Players may be hungry again. Last year pizza and Chinese both delivered to the hotel.
  • We are staying at the Country Inn and Suites.  Room assignments will be given once we arrive.  There are 4 players per room.
  • Free Wi-Fi and hot breakfast is included.  The hotel also has a 'to go' breakfast bag
  • Team meetings will be called after everyone is settled.
  •  The coaches will set the time for breakfast and departure each day--plan to leave the hotel sometime between 7-8 am.
  • The tournament has complimentary food/lunch for players both days.  The chicken soup gets 2 thumbs up from what I hear.  There is also a BBQ dinner for players Saturday evening.
  • Remember to bring your OWN snacks, shot blox, granola bars, and at least 1, but 2 is better, reusable water bottles.
  • Field bags with the usual field food will be available to supplement your hunger needs.
  • Make sure you have an extra sport bag/back pack/string bag to transport your kit/gear to and from the fields.  Extra bags (think reusable/such as target bags) are important for muddy cleats and or wet gear.  Cleats will NOT be worn into the hotel!  All cleaning of gear must take place outside!
  • I suggest your KITS include the usual gear & everything you need for every type of weather! Hats, gloves, winter warmth jacket, rain gear, at minimum 6 pairs of socks (wool socks are awesome), many layers including tights, under armour, compression gear, medium weight jacket or hoodie, sweats etc...the extended forecast for Winnipeg is 36-37* for the low and 45-48* for highs,  Partly cloudy and rain, and of course wind always makes it seems colder.  Parent chaperones; plan to be at the fields most of the day so you have your own chaperone/spectator kits also.  If you are unsure of what a 'kit' is or items you might need ask a captain, coach or use the search engine on the blog.
  • We will depart directly after the awards ceremony to come home.  The bus will stop, probably in Grand Forks, for a dinner break.  Bring comfy clothes specifically for the ride home.  After dinner the majority of players and parents will quickly fall asleep.
  • Our estimated arrival time back at Adath is 12:30am-1:00am Sunday night/Monday morning.  Erin will tweet approximately 45 min from home. Players will be reminded to alert their parents via text/call as well.
The cost for the weekend is $255.oo per player, & $60.oo per parent for the bus.  Checks should be made out to: Hopkins Ultimate and are due ASAP.  Remember to bring money for the 2 dinner stops, snacks, and any MERCH you might want to buy. (Dinner stops are at fast food type restaurants such as Noodles, Five Guys, DQ, etc..) You may give payments by check to the following people:
Ben Pavelka at school or practice,
Wendy Shear after practice,
Coach Erin
or myself.
All players must be paid before boarding the bus.

I'm looking forward to having a great time, watching some awesome Ultimate and defending our champions title :-).

Debbi

{I'd like to remind everyone that registration was due September 28th.  You are not considered fully registered until the online forms;
 ~have been filled out,
~the USAU 2014/2015 form and USAU medical forms have been printed & signed by players  and parents
~and payment has been turned in.
I have received many completed registrations.  Thank you!
However, I am missing a significant number of registrations from HBTS players!  You may not attend HBTS unless you're completely registered for Hopkins Ultimate.
It is not my responsibility, nor fair to myself or the captains, to have to track down  players/families reminding them of their commitments.}
Effective immediately players will not be allowed to attend practice unless they are completely registered.

BLITZ

Hello everyone!

Our 2nd and last discount card BLITZ is tomorrow October 5th.  Everyone meets at the Golden Valley Library (off Winnetka by Mcdonalds North of Hwy 55)
at 12:00 noon!  We have over 40 players signed up (way to go) and 15 parents (yeah!). signed up to drive.  However, we NEED 3+ additional parents to drive kids tomorrow! The success of this fundraiser is a numbers game.  The goal is to have 2-3 kids per car.  The more cars out there, the more neighborhoods covered!  When there are 3-5 kids in a car we lose ground we can canvass.  Of the 15 drivers only 11 are available all day.  Any amount of driving is requested.
PLEASE sign up if you can help drive tomorrow.
You'll notice I've outlined potential  tournaments for all teams on the sidebar.  These tournaments, our practice fields, indoor practice space, scholarships, final banquet activities and more are 100% dependent on fundraising dollars brought in.
Players:
* WEAR HOPKINS ULTIMATE jerseys, sweatshirts or pinnies.
*Bring your own phone charger and pen please.
* Dress Toasty Warm and in layers.  Check the forecast in the morning. The weather will be similar to today.  Hats, gloves, sweatshirts, jackets.....

Pizza and awards party starts at 6:10 at HHS cafeteria.  All participants get 'cash bag grabs' including parents!

Wendy Shear will be in charge (also driving!) along with Stephen Elias and Jon Frank. I'm out of commission for a couple of days :-(.

Good luck!  Have fun!  And remember.... We accept donations big and small!

This week in the World of HUrt

Hi all,

For those of you who signed up for Canada, please make practice this week a priority.  I will be talking about the teams, how to pack, and taking team photos for both a Black and Silver.

Varsity Tryouts are in full swing.  There were several players unable to attend Exit 69, so tonight (Wednesday) will be a normal tryout.  Thursday we will also have a tryout, but I will be making the first round of cuts throughout the practice.  If you have questions, please come talk to me in person - because your ultimate career is your responsibility.

Practice is still on for all other boys and the ladies (obviously).

As we get into true fall weather, please remember to dress toasty warm.  Bring layers, rain gear, bug spray, and anything else you might need to stay warm, dry, and sane.

Another Blitz is on for this coming weekend.  If you have not yet signed up, please make sure you have a reason (not an excuse) and have communicated that to Debbi or Wendy.  These fundraisers can make or break our season, and participation is mandatory for all players.

Exit 69 (day 2)

Hello all,

That was a great and fun first day of Exit 69. Anyway, Day 2 is going to be just as fun and more great games. The girls play at 9 and the boys' first game isn't until 10:30. For carpools, the GIRLS' carpool is at 7:15 at Lindbergh. As Hopkins, we are a family, so we support each other and cheer each other as much as we can. Therefore, the boys will be getting to the fields at 9:10 in order to support the girls. Erin is playing, so heckling is encouraged. The BOYS' carpool will be at 8:40 and leave no later than 8:50. It should be the same weather tomorrow, so bring sunscreen. Other than that, get some rest and get ready for more ultimate tomorrow!

Passport information due today!/EXIT69

Good Morning!

HBTS:
Passport color photo copies for those signed up to attend HBTS are due today!  I've received less than 10 copies as of this morning.  You may scan and email a copy to me at d.pavelka@me.com or a color copy can be mailed.   The tournament is 3 weeks away, however,  There are deadlines to meet of registration materials and manifests to submit to the border that need finalization by Monday of next week.  This includes coaches and parents traveling with our group on or off the bus.  Parents: Thank  You to those who have signed up to chaperone!  Please sign up on the Signupgenius even if you are NOT riding the bus.  Whether driving or flying I need accurate numbers of people with our group.

We need 2 additional girl players in order to send 2 teams to Hold  Back the Snow!  As explained in a previous blog post this is a Co-Ed tournament.  Each team needs a ratio of 4 boys / 3 girls on the field at all times.

I promised more info regarding per player cost.  I cannot calculate this until we have finalized two teams.  Please note that taking a coach bus to Winnipeg is conditional on sending 34 players.

EXIT 69:
To all the players participating at EXIT 69 this weekend, and there are 46 & 49 players signed up on Saturday and Sunday,  good luck and have fun!  The forecast is for warmer than normal temps in the 80's with plenty of sunshine!  Remember SUNSCREEN!  Reuseable water bottles, food to fuel you throughout the day, socks and more layers of clothing than you think you'll need!  The forecast might say 83 at noon but arriving at the fields by 8:00 am at 65 degrees feels quite different!  Refer to the Signupgenius for driving rules. All players should note if they need a ride or not.  Carpools leave from Lindbergh parking lot at 7:25, so be at Lindbergh at 7:15 please.

Lastly....every player must participate in our Blitz fundraisers.  Whether you're playing ultimate in the fall, winter, spring or a combination of these seasons.  Fundraising dollars go to tournament fees,  practice and playing fields, indoor facilities, scholarships, MNYU league dues,  and much, much more!!  Without adequate fundraising dollars for the year these costs will end up being passed onto to players.  There were 30 players at last weeks Blitz.  Our next Blitz is October 5.  There are 29 players signed up, 14 of those participated last week.  PLEASE signup on the signup genius.  This includes parents as well.   The more parent drivers with 3 or less kids in their car the more ground we cover!

Have a great weekend!

Fall tournament info and signups

Hi everyone!

There are 2 tournaments coming up quickly,  Exit 69 & Hold Back the Snow (HBTS), I'll briefly explain the who/what/where of both right now.   There will be more information given at the Fall Meeting on Thursday September 18th @ HHS room W230 @ 7:00pm as well as future blog posts.

Exit 69:
September 27th-28th
Maple Plain Minnesota @the Polo Fields.

This is a college level 2 day tournament that the Varsity and Girls teams participate in each year.  The coaching staff use this, in part, for Varsity tryouts.  Players in grades 10th-12th may sign up on the Signupgenius located on the sidebar.  You must signup if you intend to participate.  Please follow the directions provided on the signup for carpools and driving information. Carpools are encouraged and parent drivers are always our first choice.
Boys in 9th grade & younger are not allowed to signup unless they have been invited to participate by a coach or captain.
You may still sign up even if you are only available 1 of the 2 days.  Sign up only on the day you are available.

Exit 69 Signup

Hold Back the Snow (HBTS)
October 17th-19th (2 day tournament leaving Friday the 17th)
Assiniboine Park, Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada

This is a fun and exciting co-ed tournament we participate in each year.  We send 2 teams, Black & Silver, by coach bus and stay in a hotel.  Every team must have a 4 boys/3 girls ratio on the field. Which means we can take 24 boys (10th-12th grade) and 12 girls (no grade restrictions).  The tournament format restricts roster size to 16 per team with 18 players the maximum for additional fees.

The Signupgenius  has a place for players who want to signup, but are either unsure or for overflow if the spots fill quickly which they usually do!  Spots have frequently become available due to illness or injury so moving from overflow is possible.  If there is availability at the time of deadline, 9th graders will have an opportunity to also sign up.  Please note: this is NOT a first come first served signup. Erin and the coaches will determine  players and team placements for this trip. Some factors used to determine the roster may include, but are not limited to, ability, maturity, conduct etc..
ALL PLAYERS, COACHES AND CHAPERONES MUST HAVE A VALID PASSPORT!  We are traveling internationally, staying at a hotel, and representing Hopkins Ultimate.

There is a 'Player Fee' involved with this trip.   Chaperones riding on the bus (which we encourage!) will be charged a small fee for the bus and are responsible for the cost of their hotel rooms.  Much more info will be available after the informational meeting on Thursday.

HBTS Signup

Please follow the instructions on the Signupgenius!  The deadline for signing up including proof of valid passport/parent permission is September 26th.
Please send a color copy of players passport to me @
Debbi Pavelka
6840 Harold Ave
Golden Valley, MN 55427

A follow up email and/or blog post with more specifics will be coming in the near future.

Thanks!

Fall Player/Parent Registration Meeting

Hi everyone,

I'm excited for the fall season to begin!   It's always fun  reconnecting with returning players and their families.  And I enjoy meeting new players/families.

I have listed important dates coming up starting with the fall meeting:

Our fall informational/registration meeting will be held on
September 18 @ 7:00pm  at Hopkins High School room W230.  A parent/guardian should plan on attending with their player, as information is relevant to both adults and kids.

Practice for ALL players/teams starts Thursday September 4th!  We are at Maetzold field in Hopkins from 6-8:30pm W & TH.  Fall practices are for NEW and veteran players!  We intentionally hold our registration meeting after practices start to allow prospective players a chance "try" Ultimate out.

We will once again be working with Jon Frank and Impact Fundraising selling discount cards to raise money for Hopkins Ultimate. This was an exciting and fun way to bring players and parents together.  Stephan Elias has offered to oversee this fundraising event again this year.  There will be an informational meeting prior to the 'BLITZ DATES' which are:

Sunday September 21st and Sunday October 5th.

We have several opportunities and positions for parents to volunteer:-).  Feel free to contact me for more information.

Have a great Labor Day weekend !

CAR WASH !

Car Wash

It's the perfect time of the year for our 1st fundraiser of the season!  Hopkins Ultimate is running a CAR WASH on:

Saturday August 23rd @
Spielmanns BP gas station (corner of Hopkins Crossroads/Cedar Lake Rd.)
9:am-3:pm

All players, returning veterans and new players, are encouraged to participate. Both of last years car washes were not only successful but tons of fun!  Sunshine or rain the car wash will go on!

Fundraising is critical to the continued success of Hopkins Ultimate.  This car wash is the first fundraiser of the 2014/2015 season.  Participation in fundraising events is mandatory for HUrt families.  We will be using the Signupgenius to ensure we have the supplies and parent volunteers necessary to have a successful event.  I'm confident there will be plenty of players available, however, we want to make sure the shifts are equally covered.

Please click on the car wash link below and signup for a shift and any supplies you're able to bring.
Clearly label supplies with your name! I have some supplies from last year  including:
Car wash soap
Sponges
Microfiber towels for drying
One garden hose
And some squeegees

Tell your friends and family to support the club by getting their cars washed this Saturday!

CAR WASH

Thanks!

World of Hurt: Blog/Calendar heads up

Hi all,

I'm sure you've heard me talk about how we're updating the blog.  Well, the time is near.  Mid-August we'll be going live (around the same time as captains practices start).

A few things:

1) If you currently have any type of "feed my inbox" or "blogtrottr" set up for http://hurtult.blogspot.com/, that function will break.  If you have something set up for www.hopkinsultimate.com, you should be fine.  Same goes with bookmarks.

2) The current iCal will be removed in favor of a new one.  So if you subscribed to that calendar, go ahead and remove it.

3) Now is as good a time as any to check your Parent Google Group set up. If you want out/in or want to change the email address on file, please let me know.

4) When the new blog goes live, if it looks weird at all click Ctrl F5.

5) http://hurtult.blogspot.com/ will exist out there on the internet for the foreseeable future, so any references to KITs or past tournaments/rosters will still be available in an archive.  We're not permanently deleting anything.

The purpose of the new blog design is to provide more information and be more user friendly.  We can always make changes to make it better.  We're using a pretty standard Wordpress interface, so we may not always have the technology (i.e. push notifications are a long way off), but we can always try.

Similarly, when we go live there may be some materials that are not yet available (a few things need to be finalized with the board first, and 2014-2015 forms may not be ready yet).

Thank you all for your patience, we hope this is an improvement!

Reminder: the summer is when we get better.  Go play ultimate, stay in shape or improve your fitness, recruit, and get ready for an awesome 2014-2015.

Erin

Your thoughts are important!

Hi everyone!

I trust that everyone is enjoying summer.  I cannot believe it is the 4th of July weekend already!

Thank you for an exciting 1st year for me as president!  What amazing groups of people we have/had make up the 'whole that is Hopkins Ultimate.'
Players, coaches, parents, friends and family!

Thank you for everyone's support, kind words and the gift card :-).  Completely unnecessary but very much appreciated!

It may be July 2nd but we are already planning for next year.  We have a short survey via Survey Monkey we encourage players and parents complete.  It's short, confidential, and a great way to gather feedback.  The questions are multiple choice with an option to leave further feedback if you like.  Your name is optional.   The survey will be available until July 15th.  Just click on this link:

Clinic opportunity - July 5th

Hi all,

Here's a snippet from MNYU about a clinic opportunity coming up in July:
__________

Minnesota Ultimate has the wonderful opportunity to host an elite ultimate tournament called the US Open. We are not quite done :-)

Thank you to all the Players, Coaches, Team Parents, Board members and Parents for doing all that each one of you did this year.  It was wonderful to see so many people last night at the banquet and alumni game!
But we are still 'in season' until we finish the State Tournament on
Sunday, June 8!  The signupgenius is updated and live! PLEASE sign up ASAP.
I'm still in need of a parent volunteer for State.  It's Mandatory that each school provide 1 (or more ) volunteers for Sundays tournament to take place.  It is either a morning or afternoon shift and there are perks for those who help.  If there aren't enough volunteers, no tournament.  Please let me know if you, a family member, friend, alumni, employee ..... are able to help.

Here is part of the email sent to coaches yesterday!

"We are up to 12 volunteers.  A great start, but many more needed!  I count 31 schools attending on June 8.  And at least 3 of our current 12 are actually coaches from schools which aren't competing on June 8.  So it seems that most of your schools are still a volunteer short!

Here is the current list of volunteers.  Please visit and note if your volunteer is already signed up.  And remember, once you have your school's volunteer lined up for the volunteer requirement, please have that person signup on our website for a morning or afternoon shift."
Please consider taking a few hours to volunteer.

I am looking forward to Sunday and seeing as many, if not more, fans supporting our teams!

Thanks for an amazing year :-)

STATE TOURNAMENT UPDATE

The Minnesota Youth Ultimate board and coaches spent many hours discussing the best way to reschedule bracket play from today's tournament cancellation.

Please read the following excerpts from the MNYU board:

"the board has decided that the best option remaining is Sunday, June 8 at the National Sports Center.  We made this decision for a number of reasons, including that no other option had more Yes votes on the survey.  The NSC also has fields available on that day."

"Schedule for Sunday, June 8.  We currently intend for the schedule for Sunday to be the same as ne 1 (before any lightning-related adjustments.)  So other than the date and the field assignments, we intend the same schedule to take place as is in the program, the USAU website"

"However, we also know that some teams won't be able to make it, so we will likely tweak that schedule after the commitment deadline to promote competitive fairness and maximize quality playing opportunities for all teams.  So please plan for games to take place between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm on Sunday, June 8"

"Saturday Pool Play Makeup Game.  As I mentioned earlier today, we will need teams to makeup theSaturday 2:30 pool play game prior to Sunday, June 8.  Please communicate with your opposing coach immediately, if you haven't already, to setup a time to play the game this week."

We know from our own Hustle tournament decision making process,  there is never a perfect solution.   The MNYU board relies on volunteers, as do we, to organize, set up, staff and run the the State Ultimate  tournament. ( because volunteers will be difficult to come by,  a discussion mandating every team give the tournament a volunteer is on the table )

I know  many players and their families have graduation parties, travel plans including camp departures  next weekend.   Please keep in mind over 70 teams are in the same place we are.

Coaches will be asking  for player "commitment to play" on June 8th starting ASAP.   There is a deadline of 8pm tomorrow for teams to "commit to participate".   Players,  prior to telling your coach yes of no PLEASE  check with your parents 1st.   It is crucial we have accurate roster counts by the deadline.

Sunday of State - No Games Today

Sorry all,

I got an email at 6:02am that NSC has pulled the fields for today.

MNYU is going to be having a lot of discussions today about what our options are, and I will communicate them as soon as I can.

But for today, we need to spread the word that there are no games today.  I know that the carpool might already be at Lindbergh, so help me out and call a family member so this news trickles down.

Thanks,
Erin

Fields closed

Sunday looks like this.....

Sunday we will resume where we left off.  Literally!  The wacky weather continues to challenge us.

Varsity, Girls and JV Black will resume their games, literally, by placing the disc where it was when the horn sounded.
Carpools and RV's will depart Lindbergh at 6:10am sharp!
Players cleated and ready to warm up at 6:50am.
Play resumes at 7:50am.

Silver carpools will depart Lindbergh  at 7:40am sharp!
Players cleated and ready to warm up at 8:20am.
Game at 9:20am.

Varsity will resume on field K1
Girls on field U3
JV Black on field J2
JV Silver on field F4

We are starting early to finish pool play and move forward into bracket play.
The girls final is scheduled at 1:30pm. (No time change) Hard cap at 3:00.
The boys final is scheduled at 3:20pm (moved from 3:30pm) Hard cap at 4:50pm.

Remember toasty DRY!  Rain gear, socks, socks and more socks and change them frequently.
It would be a smart move for everyone, players, parents and spectators to bring a towel to keep in the car for yourself.   Pack a change of clothes in a ziploc bag to change into for the ride home (the air conditioning is cold when clothes are wet and windows fog easily)

Field food bags are down to the crumbs :-(. This is the end of the season and will not be refilled for tomorrow. Please remember to bring extra food to fuel your body.

Weather delays are possible again tomorrow.  Think, dream, and wish for sun tomorrow.

State Tournament

Hurtems, Hertettes,

I know you think your coaches know that you plan to go to State, but we don't.  Right now we have 10 varsity Hurtems, 8 Hertettes, JV Black with 19 (awesome response guys), and JV Silver with 13.

Please sign up HERE if you're planning on attending.  We always prefer parent drivers, but if you're over 17 you can offer to drive.  Parents determine whether their kid is allowed as a passenger.  I'll repeat: if a parent driver is available, that parent driver will drive.  We prefer that parents drive whenever possible.

This is our last tournament of the year, so we hope everyone will make it a priority.

State SCHEDULE (check the tabs)
Captains meeting is at 7:45am on Saturday at HQ (near U2/Schwann's Center)
First round games start at 8:30am
All Hurtems should be at the NSC by 7:30am

Update: full schedule is also available on score reporter now:
Girls: http://play.usaultimate.org/events/Minnesota-High-School-Girls-State-Championships/schedule/Girls/High-School-x-High-School/
Boys: http://play.usaultimate.org/events/Minnesota-High-School-Boys-State-Championships/schedule/Boys/College-x-High-School/

Boys Varsity starts on I3
Ladies start on A4
JV Black on K4
JV Silver on L2

US Open - Volunteers Needed

Hurtems,

I know we have some time left yet this season, but there are some other exciting things happening this summer that I need to get out there.

Over the 4th of July, MN is hosting the US Open, a tournament featuring the top worldwide talent alongside a convention discussing all kinds of best practices and conversations from around the ultimate world.  http://www.usaultimate.org/usopen/

This is a huge event, and an awesome opportunity to show all these visitors what a wonderful ultimate community we have here.  Everyone should consider signing up to volunteer for a small job.  Score keeping and stat keeping are pretty fun, but some volunteers get access to a golf cart (just saying): http://mnyu.org/Volunteer.aspx

Be an ambassador to our program in a larger sense, watch good ultimate, be a part of a really important event.

P.S. I'm presenting at that convention.

FINAL BANQUET-AWARDS & ALUMNI GAME

The season is coming to a close and yet it feels as though it's only just begun.
It is HURTS tradition to end each season with a final banquet and awards ceremony.  We spend time together wrapping up the year, recognizing players of distinction and sending the seniors off to their new worlds.  We encourage 100% participation including parents and siblings.
This years format is a little different than last years.   We will be gathering at ~North Junior High at 6:00pm in the cafeteria for a "bring your own" dinner.  Think picnic style :-) which we can also do outside if the weather is decent.  ~Around 6:30 we will start the awards and recognization part of the evening (most likely in the cafeteria).
~There will be desserts (hopefully if you baked for Hustle you were able to freeze the goodies for final banquet!)  Plates, silverware and napkins will be provided.
~ New this year is a Banana Bread baking contest!  Players, parents, & coaches can all make their favorite Banana Bread recipe to be judged and then shared!  (Gluten free and nut free recipes are welcome to accommodate everyone)
~Following the banquet an Alumni Game in Hopkins High School Stadium, under the lights, will take place!  We would love everyone to stay and watch, we also know finals and school comes first.
~We will have MERCH for sale too!

Please signup with the signup genius. If you've already posted in the blog comments David Seffren moved your comments to the signupgenius.  No need to signup again!  Thanks David!
The link is on the sidebar to the right.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!
